Ginger Hultin is a clinical and outpatient dietitian at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL. She is a certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor through the American Council on Exercise and represents the State of Illinois as the Academy’s Vegetarian Nutrition DPG state coordinator. Her special interests include whole foods nutrition, physical fitness, motivational interviewing and preventing chronic disease through positive life changes. With a BA in English from the University of Washington in Seattle, Ginger is an avid writer and blogger who hopes to write a book about nutrition in the near future. Amanda Seguin completed her B.S. in Dietetics at Bradley University in Peoria, IL and her distance dietetic internship at Lenior-Rhyne University located in Hickory, North Carolina. Through the internship she completed the Certification of Training in Childhood and Adolescent Weight Management. Currently, Amanda is a Nutrition Specialist for the Chicago Partnership for Health Promotion, a program of the Great Cities Neighborhoods Initiative at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Jonathan Valdez is a Dietetic Technician, Registered and a student at Dominican University Brennan School of Business, completing his MBA/DI coordinated program. He received his BS in Food Science & Human Nutrition at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa. His background is in public health as a Women, Infants, and Children Nutrition Assistant, promoting breastfeeding and counseling nutritionally low-risk participants. Lisa Moloney is an Evidence Based Practice Manager with the Research and Strategic Business Development Team at the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She also provides vacation coverage at Advocate Trinity Hospital as a clinical dietitian. She is a member of the Dietitians in Nutrition Support Practice Group with a strong interest in nutrition support. Beyond clinical nutrition, Lisa is an avid runner and promotes well-being in her day to day life. Recently she has expanded her interest into pediatric nutrition as she has two young children, Finn James a busy two year old and Colette Brigid the latest addition to the Moloney family who is just three weeks. Annica Shumny received her Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Science with a Certificate in Alternative Nutrition, from California State University, Los Angeles and completed her dietetic internship and Master of Science in Dietetics from Loyola University Chicago. She passed her RD exam in July 2012 and now works for a clinical research organization in Chicago as a Registered Dietitian/Clinical Research Coordinator. Kasia Ciaston recently accepted a position as a Registered Dietitian for Lifetime Fitness. She is a recent graduate of Loyola University’s combined Master’s and Dietetic Internship program. She completed her BS in dietetics and minor in chemistry from the University of Illinois at Champaign. Go Illinois! Nicci Brown is a recent graduate of Ohio State University. She received her BS in Nutrition and Dietetics and recently began the MS/DI program at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. She is not a Registered Dietitian yet, but she is well on her way! Nicci believes that nutritious eating, exercising regularly and a joyful approach to each day add up to a healthy lifestyle. Besides nutrition, she takes great joy in reading for fun, exciting forms of exercise, and writing. Barbara Fine is a Registered Dietitian who works full time at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois in pediatrics. Barbara also consults private clients at Evanston Athletic Club and is a coach at Chicago Public Schools for the Fuel up to Play 60 program. Ms. Fine is one of two media representatives for the Illinois Dietetic Association. Barbara is interested in using nutrition to prevent diseases and specializes in Pediatrics, weight loss, diabetes, vegetarian/vegan, and heart health. Physical activity/fitness is important to Barbara which is one of the reasons she obtained a personal training certificate from the American College of Sports Medicine. Carolyn Tampe, MS, RD, LDN, CDE is a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator. She has a Master’s degree in nutrition from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Carolyn is the owner of Aeon Nutrition, Inc., a Chicago-based nutrition consulting company. She specializes in diabetes prevention and treatment, weight management, vegetarian nutrition, and childhood obesity prevention and treatment. Carolyn served as Chicago Dietetic Association President in 2011-2012 and currently serves as the Sate Coordinator Chair for the Vegetarian Nutrition Dietetic Practice Group. Allison Parker graduated from Drexel University with a BS in nutrition and food science, and became a Registered Dietitian. She worked for 2 years as a clinical dietitian at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. She completed her master’s degree in nutrition communications at Tufts University in 2008 and took a job with the supermarket Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. in Buffalo, NY. Since Buffalo, Allison has worked in DC for the U.S. Apple Association managing a consumer health public relations and education program.
